EEG Neurofeedback - Lynda Martens

What EEG Neurofeedback Can Do for You

For the past 10 years, I’ve been using the EEGer Neurofeedback system to help clients achieve long-lasting improvements in their mental, emotional, and neurological well-being. EEG neurofeedback therapy is a non-invasive, drug-free approach that supports your brain’s natural ability to regulate, recover, and thrive.

Conditions EEG Neurofeedback Can Help With

Over the years, I’ve successfully supported clients with a range of challenges using neurofeedback, including:

  • Sleep difficulties (trouble falling or staying asleep, waking up unrested)
  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Trauma and PTSD
  • ADHD
  • Epilepsy
  • Brain injury / post-concussive syndrome
  • Addiction (including standard neurofeedback and Alpha-Theta protocols)

How Does Neurofeedback Work?

Your brain communicates through electrical signals known as brainwaves—specifically Theta, Alpha, and Beta. These waves reflect your current nervous system state, whether you’re calm, focused, anxious, foggy, or overstimulated.

Here’s how different patterns show up:

  • Under-aroused brains may feel sluggish, unfocused, or low in mood.
  • Over-aroused brains may feel tense, jumpy, or anxious.
  • Imbalances can show up as migraines, mood instability, or trauma-related symptoms.

The encouraging news? Your brain can learn to rebalance itself.

Neurofeedback monitors your brainwaves in real-time and provides feedback that encourages healthier patterns. During each session, your brain is gently guided toward an ideal state—usually with reduced Theta (to quiet mind-wandering) and lower excessive Beta (to ease anxiety and tension). The system “rewards” your brain when it maintains this optimal zone.

With consistent training, most people see lasting improvements in:

  • Mood
  • Sleep
  • Focus
  • Energy

Success rates range between 85% and 90%, depending on the condition and individual.

What to Expect During a Session

You’ll relax in a comfortable recliner while I prepare a few small sensors—placed gently on your scalp and ears. These electrodes don’t put anything into your brain; they only read the electrical activity.

Here’s what your visit will look like:

  • On your first visit, I’ll conduct a brief EEG assessment to map your brainwave patterns.
  • Then, the training begins: you’ll watch a video game or animation that responds to your brain’s state. When your brain reaches a calm, focused rhythm, you “win” the game—reinforcing those patterns.
  • Each session lasts about 9 to 18 minutes, with the entire appointment taking around 30 minutes.

Most clients come once or twice a week for 10 sessions, though 2–3 times weekly may help speed up progress. We’ll track your results and adjust as needed. After your first 10 sessions, we’ll revisit your goals and decide together whether to continue, taper, or wrap up.
